If you have one of these kinds of fireplaces, the chances are good that you already know that they aren’t able to have glass doors installed on them. Although they are designed to burn fuel more fully than vented gas fireplaces and therefore emit fewer harmful gasses, there are still some suggested precautions to take when operating these fireplaces and prohibiting glass doors is one of those safety requirements.

What is a Refacing?
Refacings are available for vent free prefab fireplaces and they are similar to regular fireplace doors, except they cover the entire front of the unit. Vent free refacings install as an overlap fit and come with a set of operable mesh doors. If you are looking to cover more than just the opening of your vent free fireplace, then a refacing is a great option for you!

Q: Can I put glass doors on my ventless fireplace?
- A: No! These vent-free fireplaces need adequate ventilation to ensure that there is no build-up of harmful gasses and to allow your fireplace to operate safely. Mesh doors are the only acceptable door options for this kind of fireplace.
Q: Where can I find my fireplace model number?
- A: Typically, the make and model of a prefabricated fireplace is located on a metal identification tag. These tags are usually just within the front fireplace opening and are attached to one of the sides, or at the top of the opening.
