Be sure to take all measurements to the nearest 1/16” using a steel tape measure. Note any irregularities around the opening of the fireplace, such as projecting or recessed brick, and advise us before you place an order. For complex custom applications, a photograph of the fireplace will prove very helpful.

 

OVERLAP FIT (needs hearth to sit on)

When the fireplace door is larger than the opening of the fireplace. Measure the width of the opening at the top and again at the bottom. We need the exact minimum width. Next, measure the height of the opening from the hearth (where the door will sit) to either the bottom of the lintel bar or the bottom of the finishing material (brick, marble, etc). We need the exact minimum height.

 

INSIDE FIT (inside firebox opening)

When the fireplace door is smaller than the opening of the fireplace, and fits inside of the fireplace opening. Measure the width of the opening at the top and again at the bottom. We need the exact minimum width. Next, measure the height of the opening from the hearth/floor to either the bottom of the lintel bar or the bottom of the finishing material (brick, marble, etc). We need the exact minimum height.

INSIDE FIT - Generally, the clearance tolerance gaps can be filled from the backside of the frame using high temp silicone RTV. If the gaps become excessive (as in a stone fireplace), it may be necessary to mortar in the enclosure. Clearance tolerance gaps are determined by the manufacturer according to your opening size.

The Original Moderne custom fireplace door by Design Specialties is destined to make a statement in your living space! Its 3 inch door panels come in an array of powder coat and specialty finish colors (such as the metallic brushed Satin Nickel, as shown in our pictures). The outer main frame comes in a textured black powder coat. Additional customization options are available so you can really make this modern fireplace glass door your own. Submit your firebox opening dimensions, as well as the door fit you need, and we'll create this truly unique enclosure to your specifications! Bi-fold doors are customary, however, you can elect for the twin cabinet door style if you prefer. Choose from clear, grey, bronze, or sultry black tints for the tempered safety glass. Prefer to enjoy the flames with the doors closed? Consider upgrading to the amber tinted ceramic glass panes. Remember to opt for mesh protection for the times when your doors remain open while the fire is going. The sleek Original Moderne enclosure features hidden door hinges and handles for a clean look.

Please note: metallic finishes will add an additional 2 weeks to production and transit time.

NAPOLEON products are designed with superior components and materials assembled by trained craftsmen who take great pride in their work. The burner and valve assembly are leak and test-fired at a quality test station. The complete appliance is again thoroughly inspected by a qualifi ed technician before packaging to ensure that you, the customer, receives the quality product that you expect from NAPOLEON. The following materials and workmanship in your new NAPOLEON gas appliance are warranted against defects for as long as you own the appliance. This covers: combustion chamber, heat exchanger, stainless steel burner, phazer™ logs and embers, rocks, ceramic glass (thermal breakage only), gold plated parts against tarnishing, porcelainized enameled components and aluminum extrusion trims.* Electrical (110V and millivolt) components and wearable parts are covered and NAPOLEON will provide replacement parts free of charge during the fi rst year of the limited warranty. This covers: blowers, gas valves, thermal switch, switches, wiring, remote controls, ignitor, gasketing, and pilot assembly.* Labour related to warranty repair is covered free of charge during the fi rst year.
